Farmers’ markets are about community

Written by Nancy and Jody on Nov 16, 2010

The news last week concerning the possible closure of Magnolia Farmers Market really got us going. After several phone conversations and a sit down meeting with Andrea and Heidi of Dish It Up http://dish-it-up.com we have a plan of action.

The Magnolia Farmers Market is at a crossroads. This is our opportunity to voice our desire to keep the market open next year and in the years to come, and to envision the future of our market.

How can we work as a community to build a sustainable Magnolia Farmers Market?

TENDER and Dish It Up invite you to join us on Tuesday, November 23 at 8:00 am,
at Dish It Up, Magnolia for a solution-based conversation.

Why would they consider closing such a boon to Magnolia. I lived there for 32 years and wished we had such a thing then. NO do not close it. Its a great meeting place for the neighbors plus it brings special items to the local people..all very fresh and
good for the children to see and meet local growers.

Thank you for your comment, Catherine – you expressed the value to the community very well. There is much positive energy and action building, to spread awareness about the value of the market and to create a sustainable Magnolia Farmers Market, that meets the needs of both the community and of NFMA. This is our opportunity as a community, to shape the future, right here at home. All welcome and needed!
